There are people who prefer compact, low-powered e-cigarettes, and then there are others who prefer large, high-powered devices that push out more power than you could ever want or need. How about something right in the middle? The sweet spot for many people is somewhere in the 75W to 100W range, so here’s a list of our top picks for best 75W-100W box mods:
I recently put together an article discussing the top 200W box mods. Well, I thought it was only appropriate to do the same with some mid-range devices that are a little less bulky and not so powerful. To say that a 100W box mod is “mid-range” is a bit strange considering that only a few years ago my jaw dropped when I heard about the iStick 50W and other devices like it. Times have certainly changed!
These days a 50W device is considered “entry-level” by many people, and with the rapid expansion of sub-ohm tanks, you need at least that much power just to fire the coils that come with them. That’s where a 75W box mod comes in…
Affordable 75-100W Mods (Under $60)
Although I like to push beyond 100W on occasion, the truth is that 75W to 100W is all that I need to have an enjoyable, satisfying vape – and that’s likely the case for the vast majority of e-cig users. A 75-100W vape mod is more than enough power for most people, and only one 18650 battery is required which will keep it compact and lightweight when compared to a dual (or triple) battery mod.
I’ve had the pleasure of testing out a huge range of these devices over the years, these are my top picks for the best 75W-100W box mods under $60:
An updated version of the Pico Mod, the Eleaf iStick Pico 25 Vape Mod is even better than the original and is loaded with all of the most advanced technology. It contains Eleaf’s latest chipset, offering up to 85W of output and full temperature control (Ni/Ti/SS) with TCR and preheat capabilities. Not only is it more advanced, but the updated two-tone design gives it a stylish new look, and the latest version allows you to use a 25mm tank for even more flexibility. Super compact, affordable and fully capable!
The latest and greatest device from Geekvape, the Aegis 100W Vape Mod is a closer runner-up for the best 100W box mod. Not only does it look great, but thanks to the LSR injection molding technology, it’s water proof, shock proof and dust proof! Probably the most rugged device on the market today, it can be powered by either a single 18650 or 26650 battery and offers up to 100W of output with temperature control, real rated power and instantaneous firing. A super advanced device that will certainly stand up to the elements.
About the same size as the iStick Pico 25 (above), the Smok Alien AL85 Box Mod is another sub-compact option that can deliver up to 85W of output with full temperature control. It has a larger, front-facing OLED screen and a full-length side firing button, but otherwise their features are very similar. It comes in several attractive color combos; I’d highly recommend either device.
With similar design cues as its big brother, the Wismec Predator 228 Mod, the Wismec Sinuous 80W Vape Mod is a beautifully designed sub-compact that offers up to 80W of output with all of the most advanced features, including temperature control (Ni/Ti/SS), preheat, bypass and TCR modes. I love it’s streamlined shape, discreet firing button and hidden OLED display. A sweet little setup for anyone who wants a compact, sub-100W device.
Another single 18650 setup that’s loaded with features, the Joyetech eVic Primo Mini 80W Box Mod is an affordable and attractive option that offers up to 80W of output with full temperature control (Ni/Ti/SS/TCRx3). Available in several two-tone color combinations, it includes an oversized firing button and a large 1.3 inch OLED screen with real-time clock and custom logo.
High-End DNA-75 Box Mods (Over $60)
For the average vaper, the products listed above should work just fine, but if you’re looking for the absolute best box mod in terms of quality, performance and technology, you’ll definitely want to consider a DNA-powered device. The DNA75 chip from eVolv offers up to 75W of output, precision temperature control and an enormous amount of flexibility. These are the top DNA-75 mods:
The only dual 18650 mod on our list, the Lost Vape Therion DNA 75C Mod will not only provide the most battery life, but it has the latest DNA75C chipset which provides all of the same features as the original DNA75 – but in COLOR. The mod itself is beautifully designed in the USA and features a die cast zinc alloy chassis with carbon fiber and wood accents, along with various high-end battery cover finishes. Quality and performance are second-to-none!
Powered by the same eVolv DNA75C chip as the Therion (above), the HCigar VT75C Box Mod is another awesome, super high-end sub-100W vape mod that is loaded with technology and sophisticated customization options. The VT75C also includes a color display with up to 75W of output and precision temp control, but this single 18650 (or 26650) device is a bit more compact with a sleek, contoured zinc alloy body and unique textured inlays.
With a lightweight aluminum alloy chassis and handcrafted resin body, the Apollo Solare DNA75 Box Mod has beautiful aesthetics and all of the advanced features included with eVolv’s DNA 75 chipset. Although it lacks the color display offered by the DNA75C, virtually everything else is identical, including compatibility with eVolv’s eScribe software for full customization and monitoring. Powered by a single 18650 battery, it’s super compact and available in various color combos – each one being slightly different.
Another compact, single 18650 device, the Volcano Lavabox M DNA 75W Box Mod is a high-quality setup made from 6061 billet aluminum and includes unique, interchangeable colored grips. The Lavabox has a discreetly placed OLED screen, 3-button interface and magnetic battery door… along with all of the advanced features provided by the DNA75 and companion eScribe software. It’s available in red or black with additional grips sold separately.
Although I personally like the Therion better (above), the Lost Vape Paranormal DNA75C Mod offers all of the exact same features provided by the eVolv DNA75C chipset, including a 0.96 inch full color TFT display. Like the Therion, this is another dual 18650 device that will provide enormous battery life thanks to the parallel battery configuration. Lost Vape produces some of the most luxurious, highest-quality sub-100W mods on the market, and you can’t go wrong with either the Lost Vape Therion or Paranormal mods.
Also available: Vapor DNA for $144.99.
