The Smok I-Priv 230W Box Mod Kit – More “AI” & Voice Control
News about the second device to incorporate vaping’s latest technology – voice control – is starting to hit social media. The Smok I-Priv 230W Box Mod Kit will include a new, voice activated chip set for hands-free device operation. Heading in the direction of the Amazon Echo, smart phones, cars and televisions, touch screens may soon become a secondary option; assuming that voice control is embraced by the vaping community.
Coming off the heels of the recently announced iJoy Avenger 270W Mod, the Smok I-Priv 230W Box Mod is only the second device to offer voice control; and just like the Avenger, we have limited info at the moment. What we do know shows promise, as long as the inevitable kinks are worked out before the device is sold to the public.

What We Know About The I-Priv
Like the iJoy, Smoktech is referring to the I-Priv’s technology as “AI”, but I’m not sure how voice activation can be considered “Artificial Intelligence”. Maybe there’s more to the Smok I-Priv 230W Kit than we know, but it’s clear that the I-Priv will recognize, understand and follow a number of voice commands.
Powered by dual 21700, 20700 or 18650 batteries (with adapter), the Smok I-Priv Mod will be able to deliver a maximum power output of 230W. Although details are limited, I’m assuming that it will include a full temperature control suite like the rest of Smok’s devices, with a number of safety features and customization options.
Right now, vendors taking pre-orders on the Smok I-Priv Mod and are only selling it as a kit, but eventually you should be able to purchase just the mod. The full Smok I-Priv 230W Box Mod Kit will include Smok’s flagship sub-ohm tank – the Smok TFV12 Prince Tank. It holds 5ml of e-juice (8ml with bubble glass) and is sure to deliver outstanding performance with coils from the Smok TFV12 Prince Family. We’re not sure which specific coils will be included with the kit.

Voice Control Is Coming!
The second voice controlled vape mod to be announced within the past 2 weeks, it certainly appears that the industry is moving towards “AI” and voice controlled vaping devices. The technology seems interesting and undoubtedly cool, but until we see these products in-person and evaluate how voice commands work in the real-world, I’m not completely sold on the concept.
On the one hand, simplifying the vaping process could definitely be a benefit to new users… and who wouldn’t like to see more people quit smoking? On the other hand, is voice control really necessary and will it actually work? It definitely seems like a good idea, but could it cause more trouble than its worth?
Only time will tell whether voice control is just a gimmick or a step forward in the right direction. I expect even more versions to come out in the coming months, and I’ll be patiently waiting to give the Smok I-Priv 230W Box Mod a test run.
